Dr. Melissa Fiorito-Grafman obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware, where she double majored in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Thereafter, she continued her education at Seton Hall University, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited graduate school. There, she was granted her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology along with an Educational Specialist Degree in Mental Health Counseling. Dr. Grafman continued her studies at Seton Hall University, acquiring her Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology, with a specialization in Neuropsychology. 

Following her academic career, Dr. Grafman completed an APA-accredited residency-training program at New York University Langone Medical Center: The Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine Pediatric Unit. She subsequently completed a two-year fellowship specializing in Pediatric/Adult Neuropsychology at the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group. Following her fellowship, she worked as a neuropsychologist at Children’s Specialized Hospital brain injury cognitive remediation program serving the needs of children, as well as provided psychological services for older adults at NJ Behavioral Health Services PC.  She is licensed in the states of New Jersey and New York, where she maintains a private practice in Wyckoff, New Jersey.

Dr. Grafman’s education and clinical training are unique in that she has expertise working with individuals across the lifespan at the individual and group therapy levels, as well as specializes in others areas of practice. Dr. Grafman specializes in assessment, providing psycho-educational and neuropsychological evaluations to grade school children through young adulthood. Dr. Grafman collaborates with schools, community agencies and related professionals in a number of ways. This includes but not limited to independent evaluations and other specialized contracting services based on need, such as baseline and post-concussion testing for the New York Giants National Football League. Throughout her doctoral training, Dr. Grafman received clinical training at a number of prestigious training sites such as Bellevue Hospital Center, New York University Langone Medical Center, and Hackensack University Medical Center, where she has worked with a variety of populations, including pediatrics, adults and geriatrics. Her experience has also extended to the international level, where she was part of a team that traveled to Trinidad. There, Dr. Grafman assisted in the development and administration of a therapeutic day camp program for children, adolescents, and adults with moderate to severe developmental disabilities in the context of a range of different disorders. 

In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Dr. Grafman has made several contributions to the field of psychology. She is a contributing co-author of “The Handbook of Interviewing Children,” in which she discusses key psychosocial developmental challenges across childhood. Dr. Grafman has also published research in reputable journals, including the Journal of Counseling Psychology and the Journal of Vision. Dr. Grafman also served as an adjunct professor teaching Abnormal Psychology and Research Methods. 

Dr. Grafman has received many recognitions for her accomplishments. She has been featured as an expert pediatric psychologist on www.newparent.com and www.toddlermag.com, where she discussed relevant topics in the field of pediatric psychology/neuropsychology. Furthermore, she was featured in (201) magazine (2016) as one of the “20 people to watch in health,” where she discussed her profession as a pediatric neuropsychologist and how being a mother has enriched her professional development.

Dr. Grafman is a respected member of the professional community, with affiliations to several local, state, and national organizations. She was elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for the NJ Neuropsychological Society. Additionally, she is a member of the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Neuropsychological Association, and the New Jersey Psychological Association, demonstrating her commitment to staying current with the latest developments in the field and her dedication to professional growth.

Nowadays, Dr. Grafman is active on social media platforms, including Instagram and Tiktok (@managemymind), and Facebook page Center for Neuropsychology & Psychotherapy. Dr. Grafman’s interest and ongoing areas of study include integrative and holistic practices, mindfulness, shamanic medicine and other healing-spiritual practices, clinical hypnosis, women studies, as well as supporting one’s journey to authenticity and to their higher self. The impact of generational trauma, as well as using the inner-child to explore, heal and increase self-awareness is an additional area of interest and ongoing study. Dr. Grafman is currently pursuing training in the areas of clinical hypnosis, EMDR and other integrative healing practices to enhance her ability to serve her patients and the collective. She seeks to integrate this work into broader contexts to include professional sports and other corporate organizations. She is looking forward to participating in public speaking, as well as collaborating and consulting with professionals and organizations that are in alignment.
