Cognitive Remediation

Cognitive remediation is a behavioral treatment that uses practice and compensatory and adaptive strategies to facilitate improvement in targeted cognitive areas like memory, attention, executive function, and problem solving. Cognitive remediation is a therapy designed to remediate cognitive impairments that are making it difficult for a person to function. Cognitive remediation may be suitable for many different conditions and circumstances. It is intended to help people who have experienced a decline in their cognitive skills (due to a brain injury, dementia, post-concussion syndrome), or who were not able to fully develop their skills because of illness (neurodevelopmental, emotional, behavioral disorders). In sum, Cognitive Remediation helps improve, or circumvent, the underlying neuropsychological functions that help you think: attention, memory, planning, organization, abstract lifestyle.
